In 18th-century French households, a fumoir was a room specifically for men to retire to after dinner to smoke cigars and drink brandy.  In today's world it is considered a "Mantuary" or "ManCave", which is simply a male retreat or sanctuary in a home such as a specially equipped garage, spare room, den or basement.
